Dear Elis…
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Kind of like a Dear Abby style column, I’d like to attempt to keep a little fun injected here, with some friendly advice (and occasional warnings) about how to get into, navigate & survive the SEO/SEM and online travel industries and their respective conference circuits.
Beyond that, the topics are wide open – I will gladly offer my honest opinion about whether or not your current relationship with your SEO agency (all names withheld to protect the guilty) is working, investigate whether or not that hottie blogger you have your eye on is single and looking, hold a virtual intervention should I determine that you are hopelessly addicted to social networking, or help you figure out a way to convince your spouse to let you go on yet another “work” trip.
The Rules:
- No (really) serious questions about SEO! But if you’ve tried a couple of strategies, and can’t figure out why they aren’t working, I’ll do my best to take a quick crack at what went wrong. Kind of like a relationship counselor, I’ll point out the obvious flaws, give you a couple of actionable tips to help guide you in your healing, but ultimately, it’s up to you to really take the advice to heart and be proactive about your search & social marketing.I obviously can’t solve all of your SEO issues or create an entire online marketing strategy for you in a single column or even a series of articles. Beyond that, like many other consultants, I prefer to get paid for the majority of the advice I give. I know, silly habit!
That said, I do often work in trade – luxury spa vacations, heli-skiing and scuba trips, expensive wines (shipped discreetly to Utah) and outdoor gear are all acceptable forms of payment!
- You must agree to not be offended by any sarcasm (no matter how unfunny) I inject into my answers.
- You could remain semi-anonymous and just allow me to post your (First Name, Last Initial & Location – I won’t post any email addresses unless asked). But let’s be honest – the more interesting (and funny) your questions are, the more likely they are to be answered & published for the entire industry to read, so you might consider including a link to your site, just on the off chance I want to use it as an example, and if you want a couple extra visitors to find you. Just sayin’.
